The History KD Clair Western - Framing Contractor for Large Wood Buildings
K.D. Clair Construction Ltd., which began in 1980 was the beginning of a young man's dream. Dale Clair had always wanted to own a company which provided great service and quality to customers. Today, his dream is a reality.
Beginning as a speculative builder, it didn't take long to realize that Dale's unique style of building had created a great demand for his work. Within his small hometown in British Columbia, Dale secured a reputation as a superior quality builder, soon expanding into high end custom homes.
During the mid 1980's, when the B.C. construction economy had become quite depressed, Dale was offered a position in another construction company in Barrie, Ontario. However, soon after arriving, Dale realized the opportunities that were ahead of him. KD Clair was once again revived, this time as a framing company. Finding a shortage of experienced workers, a framing table was purchased which would begin a new phase of service for KD Clair Using this equipment, sites as large as 600 homes were able to be prefabricated, speeding up production time.
Throughout the years, KD Clair has kept up with the current trends of framing, moving from residential to specializing in commercial, resorts, motels, long term care facilites and larger wood framing projects. Still believing in prefabrication and with a core of excellent tradesmen, KD Clair is seen as a leader in many larger projects. Dale keeps one thing in mind:"You may be on the right road, but without changing
to move forward, you will end up as road kill."

Service & safety are highly important to Dale. KD Clair provides as such and has proved it with highly skilled and experienced carpenters. By providing conscientious supervision, on-the-job safety and thorough office staff, customers receive a knowledgable, competent and safe workforce. Providing on-site supervision on all sites, gives the general contractor the satisfaction of a close-knit group of foremen and carpenters, while working closely with the office staff ensures personal attention to all projects and quick, efficient problem solving.

Most of the work is derived from repetitive commercial projects and phases. Since these are repetitious, speed is obtained, therefore KD Clair has a great reputation for meeting deadlines. Though the largest portion of the work is from the commercial sector, KD Clair is well equipped to handle any large residential projects. Custom homes as large as 10,000 sq ft. are part of our references.
